Job: Certified Medical Coder (CPC or CCS) - Birmingham, AL

Our client in Birmingham, an outpatient surgery practice, is looking for a full-time Certified Medical Coder (CPC or CCS) to code, correct and follow up on claims. This is a temp to hire position.

 

Candidates must have an active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification to be considered. CPC-A and CCA apprentice level candidates will not be considered. Preferred candidates will have experience coding outpatient surgery services.

 

Certified Professional Coders are responsible for the daily coding of assigned encounters and/or ensuring that client coding is accurate and compliant. They review client charts and medical records, and identify appropriate diagnosis and procedure (ICD-9/CPT-4/HCPCS) codes for revenue cycle initiatives. They follow up on denied claims and correct them to ensure payment.  Qualified candidates must have current working knowledge of outpatient surgery coding practices.
